What the work involves

A straight answer about your roof

An inspection tells you what is solid, what is wearing, and what should be watched. It is the difference between guessing and knowing.

Most roofs look fine from the driveway. The trouble usually sits where you cannot see it: flashing pulling away from a chimney, a cracked boot around a vent pipe, shingles that have lost their grip along a ridge, or a valley where water slows down and lingers. We look at the whole roof, not just the spot that worries you, because one problem is often a clue to another.

We also look at how water leaves the roof. Gutters, downspouts and the edges of the roof work together, and when one of them fails, the damage shows up somewhere else. When we are done, we walk you through what we saw in plain words. If something needs fixing, we tell you. If it can wait, we tell you that too.

When to call for an inspection

You do not need to wait for a drip. These are the moments when a look at the roof pays off.

Schedule a visit
  • After rough weatherHigh wind, heavy snow or a hard storm can lift shingles and loosen flashing without any sign from inside.
  • Before buying or sellingKnow the roof's condition before it becomes part of a negotiation.
  • Stains or a musty atticA faint ceiling mark or damp insulation usually means water has been getting in for a while.
  • Shingles in the yardMissing, curled or cracked shingles leave the layer underneath exposed.
  • Overflowing guttersWater spilling over the edge can soak fascia, siding and the foundation.
  • It has simply been yearsIf nobody has looked at the roof in a long time, it is worth knowing where it stands.

FAQ

Inspection questions

Have another one? Call any hour and ask.

Is there a cost for the estimate?

The estimate is free. Call and we will set up a time to come out and look at your roof.

Do I need to be home?

It helps to be around so we can walk you through what we found, but we can talk through the options when you call.

Will you try to sell me a new roof?

No. If a repair will do, we say so. Replacement only comes up when the wear is spread across the roof.

Do you check the gutters too?

Yes. Gutters and downspouts are part of how a roof sheds water, so we look at them along with the roof.
